The Kitchen Display System (KDS) replaces paper tickets with a digital screen that shows incoming orders in real time, helping your kitchen stay organized even during peak hours.
Setting up a kitchen screen
- Open the KDS screen on a tablet or monitor placed in the kitchen.
- Log in with a staff account that has kitchen access permissions.
- New orders appear automatically as tickets, sorted by the time they were placed.
Managing tickets
- Tap an item to mark it as "Started", and then "Ready" once it's prepared.
- Completed tickets move off-screen automatically, keeping the display clutter-free.
- Use the built-in timer and color-coding to quickly spot orders that are running late.
How KDS connects to the rest of Estackly
Orders placed via QR menu, POS, or online channels all flow into the KDS automatically — there's no manual entry required. As tickets are marked "Ready", the status updates on the Order Management dashboard, so front-of-house staff know exactly when to serve or dispatch.
Tips for smooth kitchen operations
- Position the KDS screen where all kitchen stations can see it clearly.
- Train staff to update ticket statuses promptly — this keeps wait-time estimates accurate for guests.
- Review delayed tickets at the end of each shift to identify bottlenecks.
